It was a nice night on Wednesday last week. I rode my horse at the stables on Rigali in Atwater Village. I had a nice relaxing ride and then met my friend at Palermo’s in Los Feliz.
I have been eating at Palermo’s Ristorante, 1858 N. Vermont Ave. for most of my life. Without giving away my age, it is long enough to have gone there with my Grandma, my mother and now I bring my friends.
Tony and the rest of the staff are fantastic hosts as they always seems to remember your name. We waited for a booth ordered some red wine and began talking about work and love and things like that……I ordered the Gnocchi with Tony’s sauce. Oh yes! I always get the large order as this food the next day is superb.
After we sat and talked awhile we walked across the street to watch some local talent at the Derby. I remember when the Derby was Michael's. My parents used to eat there often.
The Derby hosts artists on Wednesdays. We saw “My Loving Eyes Fastened.” We really enjoyed him. We sat in a nice red booth type seat and watched him play his guitar. It was a great way to end the evening.
There are so many of these events and great places to visit in our community. There is really no need to travel too far to be fully satisfied by the city life while feeling like you are in a small town.
Check our site for other activities to do throughout the week.
