I had a chance last week to spend an afternoon on a new 2008 Air 230 from Correct Craft and thought I would post some of my thoughts on the boat. The boat had all the bells and whistles and was equipped with the PCM ZR-6 6.0 liter engine. The boat obviously had plenty of power and as I always have been, I was very impressed with the PCM engine. PCM does a great job with their power plants.
As is typical for a Nautique, the boats quality was very good overall. From the vinyl/carpet to the gelcoat, it was obvious you were in a very nice boat. Sure there were several things about the boat that I wasn't crazy about (the filler around the side cup holders and the cheesy navigation light on top of the tower) but overall, very nice. I also was not a huge fan of the styling around the back of the boat as it was very blocky and retro looking, but that is just personal preference.
By far the best feature on the boat is the Zero-Off speed control. It is absolutely amazing how well the boat held speed while making sharp turns and driving double ups. The Zero-Off system is nothing short of amazing in my opinion. I believe the Zero-Off is an exclusive for Nautique this year, but may be available for many other boats starting next year. If you have chance to try the system, you will certainly love it.
As far as the wake goes, we only rode behind the boat a couple of times. Once with stock ballast full and 3 people in the boat and the second time with the same setup and about a 600 lb fatsack in the floor. Stock, the wake was okay. It has a nice shape to it but it felt a tad soft or spongy to me. The shape certainly isn't as steep as the old 210 hull but you can still grab some serious air off of it. With the additional 600 lbs, the wake got marginally better and maintained its shape. One thing we noticed was once we increased the boat speed from about 22 to 23, the wake did get noticeably smaller. None of the folks I was with ever had been in or ridden a 230 wake so we didn't have very good starting points as far as speed, rope length, and weight. As with all new boats, it takes some time to figure out the sweet spot for the wake and we certainly were not going to be able to do this in one afternoon. I feel like that given some quality time with the boat, you could certainly figure out a configuration that would produce a great wake.
The surf wake on this boat was outstanding on the drivers side. We never tested the other side as everyone was goofy footed. On the drivers side, even without a lot of people and/or weight, the wake big and clean at about 10.8 MPH. It was also long. Great surf wake!
Overall, I was very impressed with the boat and enjoyed our time with it. Like all boats, I can nitpick some things here and there, but I do that with every make and model. If you are looking for a 23 foot wake-boat, you definitely should check out the the Air 230.

ok, did i eat enough today?
every time i post did i eat too much or too little the answer is always too little.... how about today? i'm a recovered (i think) anorexic btw. i drank 2 litres of water. i dance for an hour, kayaked for about an hour (intensely), and did 40 mins-1 hr of intensive ab work.
breakfast: about 1 cup oatmeal crisp cereal with 1/2 cup 1% milk, 1/4 cup oj
lunch: 2 scrambled eggs in a toasted tortilla with about a teaspoon of goat cheese, 1 banana
dinner: lentils and vegetables in curry sauce, 1 cup v8 juice
snack: 1 homemade blueberry scone (which is not 400 calories like the commercial ones... i know for a fact it has 200 or less)
how was this? and calorie estimations please?
i also had an apple!
WTF!!! GIRL, that is NOT enough and you know that!!!! i am a recovered anorexic too and i know that! thats 3 hours of vigourous activities with 1600 calories! thats about what i was eating when i was anorexic and i was dropping down to 84lbs! you need to either eat more or excersize less.
p.s. i recently moved up to ~3000 calories a day (to think i used to eat 800), and I have a TON of energy now for excersize, and to tell you the truth, I'm maintaining a nice 90lbs with 3000 calories and 2 hours of track. you could get away with 3000 too...

Which wetsuit thickness for surfing in south australia should i get?
i would like to know because i am maby going to get a psycho 2 4/3 wetsuit. I am talking about winter because it gets pretty cold down here. I have now a billabong series 200 3/2 and I sometimes have to wear a hood gloves and booties but that is only sometimes. also the wetsuit i have now is the worst wetsuit money can buy, it also has holes and rips in it. So should i get a psycho 2 4/3 or not.

I was just reading through these questions, and i noticed that you are a relatively new surfer (I think you said body boarding for 10 yaers, surfing for 1). You have asked lots of questions, that seem like you are reading surfing magazines. I'm glad you are curious, and it's great that people take up surfing. Surfing is huge in Australia (far more 'mainstream' than it is in the US). Do yourself a favor, and take these questions tio your mates on the beach and in the surf shops. They can have actual DIALOGUE with you on these subjects. Good discussions about surfing, your skill level, what you want out of surfing, what kind of waves you will generally ride.
Now, i know it's just coming up to summer down under, so you have plenty of time to worry about buying a wetsuit. And I know that you will get the Best Answers on South Australia wetsuits, from a surf shop in South Australia, not some east coast US surfer like me, or from some teenager in the US who has only surfed for a year or two.
It's nice 'rapping" with you on line, but to be honest, I don't think you are doing yourself any favors trying to learn about surfing on a computer. Go to a shop. Go to the beach, And have FUN!

I think the third bag is the best for the following reasons. Black goes with everything so you will never have the "this doesn't match my purse" problem. It is stylish, but also the most plain so you will be more likely to have and enjoy it for a longer period of time. I find that when I get a bag with a lot of designs or something too specific (like Barbie) then I end up not using it as often as a more plain (but still stylish) bag.
I don't think the first bag is necessarily too young for a 16 year old, since it is obviously styled for a teen and not a child.

Thames River Boats - High Maintenance or Cheap to Run
A Thames river boat like any boat is a pit where you continuously poor money! The Thames in London is particularly aggressive on boats due to the tide and constant river traffic. Boats that normally sit at a quiet marina berth on the South Coast are ripped to pieces when left alongside a pier in Central London for a day or two. This and the fact that London's boats are very busy means the wear and tear is significant.
Different boats require varying amount of care and repair. Boats specifically designed for sightseeing and private charter - i.e. continuous use are generally far more robust with steel hulls, reams of fender and engines capable of continuous operation.
Prettier boats on the Thames in London generally require more attention to remain looking so! Wooden hulls require more frequent maintenance and less fenders, and rubbing strips mean more opportunities for damage to be caused. The small RIB's are great having basically inflated tubes around them, but hit one of them to hard and it will be punctured...
Fibreglass is about the worst material as it is light and easily scored, broken and shattered. This means where most boats can take the odd nudge here and there and come away with merely a few grazes a fibreglass hull tends to require a lot more attention!
Grounding can also cause obvious problem with a hull and propulsion system especially if their isn't protection built into the boats hull.
The more traditional type of propulsion, i.e. a propeller, has occasional problems picking up stray ropes which then wind themselves around the boats prop shaft often melting into a lovely lump before halting the prop!
Waterjets are a very safe and powerful means of propulsion used on all shapes and sizes of craft from the London Jet Boat, which does spins and zips about the river, through to the river buses continuously serving London's commuters. The nature of a water jet is that it sucks in water and pumps it out to create drive for the vessel which of course means any floating debris also gets sucked in. This can cause problems when for example a log or plastic lid gets wedged in the inlet and restricts water flow. Often back flushing can solve, but when it is well and truly wedged divers are required. In fact divers have a lot of action on the river.
Generally these problems rarely cause affect to clients on charter and crew are well trained in dealing with almost any situation including things like loss of steering, electrical faults and loss of power.
In-terms of annual maintenance boats generally go to dry dock where they are taken out of the water and given a full overhaul including re-painting inside and out, deep cleaning, new fender and rubbing strips as well as inspections to ensure all is well both above and below the water line. Often refits such as new wash rooms and new dance floors are also done during the dry docking period.
